Shirish Kunder is an Indian filmmaker and film editor who was born on May 24, 1973. Kunder made his screenwriting and directing debut with Jaan-E-Mann (2006), following 21 films as an editor, beginning with Champion (2000). He met Farah Khan, a choreographer and filmmaker, while collaborating on her 2004 film Main Hoon Na, and they are now married.
Kunder was raised in Mumbai, Maharashtra, after being born in Mangalore, Karnataka, on May 24, 1973. He attended the SDM College of Engineering and Technology in Dharwad to study Electronics & Telecommunications Engineering.
Before switching careers, Kunder spent four years with Motorola as an electronics engineer. Kunder’s first film, Jaan-E-Mann, marked his transition into directing. He wrote the movie in addition to editing and writing the soundtrack. Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, and Preity Zinta appeared in the movie, which came out on October 20, 2006. The film’s avant-garde visual narrative technique won it praise from critics.
Along with Twinkle Khanna and Ronnie Screwvala, he co-produced Tees Maar Khan, which he co-wrote with his brother Ashmith Kunder. Kunder wrote the title track and edited the movie. On December 24, 2010, the movie, which starring Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, and Akshaye Khanna, was released.
