Biography:

Jassie Gift, born in Vithura, emerged as a prominent figure in the music industry, known for his versatile talents in singing, composing, and playing the keyboard. Raised with a profound passion for music, he drew inspiration from Western influences, including idols like Ilayaraja and Freddie Mercury. Gift’s musical journey began with his involvement as a singer and keyboardist for the band Moby Dick, displaying his talents across local platforms.

Under the guidance of director Jayaraj, he transitioned into the film music domain, initially composing tracks for Malayalam albums, notably the hit album “Soona Soona.” His foray into the film industry commenced with the movie “Saphalam.” However, his breakthrough arrived with the film “4 The People,” particularly the chartbuster track “Lajjavathiye,” propelling him to fame in 2004. This success marked his unique fusion of reggae and Indian ragas, which became a signature style in Malayalam music. His musical contributions led to the immense success of the film, earning the distinction of being the biggest Malayalam film in 2004.

Aside from his musical pursuits, Jassie Gift holds a master’s degree in philosophy from University College, Trivandrum, and a PhD in Philosophy from Kannur University, focusing on “The Philosophy of Harmony and Bliss with Reference to Advaita and Buddhism.” In his personal life, he married Dr. Athulya, who holds a PhD in Information Technology/Physics from Kannur University. Moreover, Jassie Gift was appointed as the chairman of the Kerala State Development Corporation for Christian Converts in December 2021. His musical prowess, academic achievements, and diverse contributions have solidified his place as a multifaceted artist in the Indian music industry.
