Indian actress Rati Agnihotri was born on December 10, 1960, and is well-known for her roles in Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi films. She was nominated twice for the Filmfare Award for Best Actress, for her parts in the drama film Tawaif (1985) and the cult-tragedy film Ek Duuje Ke Liye (1981).
At ten years old, she started modelling. In 1979, Agnihotri made his cinematic debuts in the Tamil flicks Niram Maaratha Pookkal and Puthiya Vaarpugal.
She also acted in several Hindi films in the 1980s. For her role in the 1981 Hindi film Ek Duuje Ke Liye, which was a remake of the Telugu film Maro Charitra from 1979, she was nominated for a Filmfare award for Best Actress. Other Hindi films from this era were Hukumat (1987), Aap Ke Saath (1986), Coolie (1983), Tawaif (1985), which also led to her being nominated for a Filmfare award.
After her father passed away and she wed the businessman and architect Anil Virwani on February 9, 1985, Gihotri was persuaded to quit making Hindi films. Tanuj Virwani, the couple’s son, was born in 1986. He performs as an actor in television series and Hindi movies. In 2015, Agnihotri and Virwani got divorced.
