Poo Ramu (30 March 1962 – 27 June 2022) was an Indian actor renowned for his appearances in Tamil language films, often in supporting roles.
Ramu was an active member of the Tamil Nadu Progressive Writers’ Association, and from 1990 to 2005, he was associated with the theater group Chennai Kalai Kuzhu.
Initiating his career as a street theatre performer, Ramu made his mark as a theatre actor in the “Naatukoru Seithi Solla” song in his cinematic debut “Anbe Sivam” (2003). He gained recognition for his role in the well-received 2008 film “Poo” directed by Sasi. In recognition of this achievement, he adopted the film’s title as his stage name. Ramu continued to make significant contributions, featuring prominently in films such as “Neerparavai” (2012), “Pariyerum Perumal” (2018), and “Nedunalvaadai” (2019).
Poo Ramu’s demise occurred on June 27, 2022, at the age of 60. Following a cardiac arrest in the previous week, he was admitted to the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital in Chennai, where he subsequently passed away.
