TheatreKanchana is a Tamil-language horror comedy film written, produced, and directed by Raghava Lawrence. It serves as a sequel to his earlier film, Muni (2007), and is the second installment in the Muni film series. The movie stars Lawrence himself, along with Sarathkumar, Kovai Sarala, and Lakshmi Rai, while Devadarshini and Sriman appear in supporting roles.
The story centers on Raghava, who is afraid to go outside but gets possessed by a ghost, leading to bizarre behavior. Vetri handled the cinematography, and Kishore Te was responsible for editing. The film’s music was composed by S. Thaman. Sri Thenandal Films acquired the distribution rights. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) gave the film an “A” Certificate due to its violent and horror content.
The Tamil version of Kanchana was released on 22 July 2011, while the Telugu dubbed version with the same title premiered a week earlier on 15 July 2011. Although it received mixed reviews from critics, the film was a commercial success in both languages and has been remade multiple times.
