TheatreThe 2025 American sports horror film Him was produced by Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions, co-written by Tipping, Zack Akers, and Skip Bronkie, and directed by Justin Tipping. Tim Heidecker, Julia Fox, Tyriq Withers, and Marlon Wayans are the film’s main actors. The story revolves around the struggles of a young, aspiring football player (Withers) who trains at the remote compound of an elderly, all but retired quarterback (Wayans). On September 18, 2025, he had his debut in Mexico. On September 19, 2025, Universal Pictures released him in the US. Critics gave the movie mostly unfavorable reviews.
Cameron, young “Cam” Cade observes the San Antonio Saviors, his favorite team, win the league title. When his favorite quarterback, Isaiah White, sustains a severe injury that could terminate his career while scoring the game-winning touchdown, his happiness turns to sadness. Real men are prepared to make sacrifices, according to Cam’s father.
Cam’s father passed away years ago, and he is currently a budding football star. He prepares for the league combine with the support of his girlfriend and family. Cam sustains a head injury that puts his career in jeopardy after being attacked by a person dressed as a goat when he is training late on an empty field. Encouraged by his agent, Tom, Cam intends to go to the combine in hopes of securing a quarterback position with the Saviors, even though he runs the risk of suffering irreversible brain damage if he is hurt again. Overstimulated by his concussion, Cam snaps at Tom and his brother and eventually declines to take part in the combine.
Later on, Om discloses that Isaiah is thinking about retiring and has offered to teach Cam for a week at a distant desert property in order to establish his suitability as a successor. After agreeing, Cam goes there and runs by insane Isaiah fans who try to scare him into not taking their hero’s place.
Isaiah subjects Cam to unsettling tasks at the property, such as a drill in which a football machine repeatedly strikes a player in the head. Cam is given shots of Isaiah’s blood in secret, which he interprets as an energy boost. He also frequently sees masked people in hallucinations, which he credits to the concussion. A crazy fan attacks Cam in a sauna, but Cam defeats her. To Cam’s dismay, Isaiah shows up and kills her without showing any emotion. Elsie, Isaiah’s wife, apologizes and entices Cam as he tries to depart. The following morning, Isaiah is holding Cam at gunpoint and demands to know whether Cam and Elsie shared a bed. Cam is made fun of by Isaiah for having regrets over his girlfriend, claiming that winners have no regrets.
Cam is invited by Elsie to a covert gathering to meet the proprietors of the Saviors. The team doctor, Marco, arrives and tells Cam to “run” in a whisper before heading out. Cam takes the weird red beverage that the proprietors provide him without realizing it is Isaiah’s blood. In a chamber lined with plastic, a bewildered Cam discovers Marco’s severed head. As he passes out, Elsie consoles him. Later, while hooked up to an intravenous line of Isaiah’s blood, Cam awakens in an ice bath at Isaiah’s property. With the intention of killing Isaiah and getting away, he takes out the IV and seizes a jagged trophy. Cam discovers that Isaiah is watching a video of supporters cheering.
Isaiah discloses that he is a member of a clan of artificial “Greatest of all Time” (G.O.A.T.) athletes who receive boosted abilities from ceremonial blood passed down through the generations. Isaiah informs Cam that they have to battle to the end with a single G.O.A.T. transfusion winner. Cam uses a helmet to bash Isaiah to death.
Cam exits the chamber and goes into a football field where Elsie, the proprietors of the Saviors, and Tom—all of whom are wearing animal masks—present him with a contract to sign. They disclose that the masked attack was planned to bring Cam to the Saviors and that Cam’s father set him up to be the next G.O.A.T. After refusing to sign the contract, Cam uses a hammer to kill the masked attacker, Elsie, and all of the owners, but he spares Tom, who is subsequently pulled into a pentagram and destroyed by an invisible force. A bloodied Cam enters the desert outside the compound, passing masked cheerleaders.
