Angana Roy is an Indian actress primarily known for her work in South Indian films, and she recently made her debut in Hindi cinema. Her upcoming film, titled “Dahini,” is scheduled to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. She gained recognition for her role in “Srimanthudu” alongside Mahesh Babu, and she has several exciting projects in the pipeline, including “Kalaga Thalaivan” with Udhayanidhi Stalin, “Arasi” with Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, and the aforementioned “Dahini.”
Before entering the film industry, Angana Roy pursued her academic studies in commerce and finance, earning a master’s degree in the field. In 2014, Angana Roy delivered a notable performance with dual shades in “Kabadam” and portrayed the role of a nurse in “Megha.” Her first Malayalam film, “Picket 43,” directed by Major Ravi, was released in 2015. In her next Tamil film, “Mahabalipuram,” she played the role of a “newly married, office-going girl.”
She has also made her mark in Telugu cinema, particularly with her role in the big-budget movie “Srimanthudu,” co-starring Mahesh Babu, which became a massive hit. In 2016, she appeared in two more Telugu films, “Sri Sri” with Superstar Krishna as his daughter (an official remake of a state-awarded Marathi film) and an untitled project. In 2016, she was honored with two awards: the ‘Bharat Icon Awards’ in Mumbai and recognition as a ‘Multilingual actress’ for her work in all four South Indian languages.
In 2017, Angana Roy received the Women Achievers State Award from Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Bangalore Mayor Miss Padmavathi. She was recognized for her significant contributions to the fields of fashion, modeling, cinema, and social welfare activities.
Additionally, Angana Roy has been cast as the lead in a mega-series on Colors Tamil television during prime time, and she is also part of a project with Star Vijay television, which marks the first fantasy series on Vijay TV.
