Story:

“Aayutha Ezhuthu,” a Tamil film from 2004, tells a powerful story of politics, love, and friendship. Directed and written by Mani Ratnam, the movie draws inspiration from the life of George Reddy, a scholar from Osmania University. Released on May 21, 2004, the film takes us on a gripping journey through the lives of its characters.

“Aayutha Ezhuthu” weaves a compelling narrative that explores the intricacies of human relationships, the impact of political interference, and the strength of friendship. The film, with its engaging storytelling and memorable characters, leaves a lasting impression on the audience, offering a glimpse into the diverse facets of life.

The tale begins dramatically with Inba Sekar shooting Michael “Mike” Vasanth off his bike, causing him to fall from the Napier Bridge into the water below. Arjun Balakrishnan witnesses this incident, setting the stage for a narrative that unveils the characters’ backgrounds leading up to this pivotal moment.

In basekar, left to fend for himself by his brother Gunasekaran, takes a dark turn and becomes a goon. He marries Sashi and subjects her to abuse. On Guna’s recommendation, Inba enters a contract to work for Selvanayagam, a politician. Meanwhile, Michael, a student leader, opposes the interference of politicians like Selvanayagam in college elections. Despite Selvanayagam’s attempts to bribe him with a scholarship, Michael stands firm in his principles. Inba, following Guna’s orders, faces strong resistance from Michael and his fellow students, leading to a face-to-face confrontation and a fierce tussle.

Arjun, the carefree son of an IAS officer with dreams of a better future in the US, falls in love with Meera. After a playful proposal, he joins Michael on a journey to prove his love. However, a sudden twist occurs when Inba shoots Michael, and Arjun steps in to save him, resulting in critical injuries. Inba later discovers Arjun as a witness to his violent actions. Despite a beating, Arjun chooses to align with Michael after his recovery, showcasing the strength of their friendship.

As Inba continues down a violent path, he kills Guna and becomes a pawn for Selvanayagam. Tasked with kidnapping Arjun, Suchi, and Trilok, Inba’s world begins to unravel. Dilli, Inba’s thug friend, experiences a change of heart, aiding their escape. However, Inba’s determination leads to Dilli’s tragic end. Arjun, seeking Michael’s help, faces a brutal encounter with Inba but is rescued just in time. The final showdown at the Napier Bridge sees Michael sparing Inba, who is then handed over to the police.

The quartet—Michael, Arjun, Suchi, and Trilok—emerge victorious in the elections, marking their entry into politics. This triumph symbolizes the strength of their unity and determination to bring about positive change. Each character undergoes a transformative journey, highlighting the complexities of life, relationships, and the consequences of one’s actions.
