Biography:

Vijayashanti is a prominent Indian actress and politician who primarily works in the Telugu film industry. She was born on June 24, 1966, in Chennai, India. Vijayashanti made her debut as an actress in the late 1970s and went on to become one of the leading actresses in the Telugu cinema during the 1980s and 1990s.

Her breakthrough role came with the movie “Karthavyam” (1990), where she portrayed a police officer, earning her critical acclaim and popularity. Some of her other notable films include “Osey Ramulamma,” “Prathighatana,” “Aashayam,” and “Mannan” (a Tamil film). Vijayashanti’s performances often showcased strong and empowered female characters, earning her the nickname “Lady Amitabh” in the Telugu film industry.

Apart from her successful acting career, Vijayashanti ventured into politics and served as a Member of Parliament (MP) from the Medak constituency in Telangana, India. She was associated with various political parties during her career, including the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
