For over a hundred movies, including Jeans (1998), Sivaji: The Boss (2007), the first forty minutes of Dasavathaaram (2008), and Enthiran (2010), Caarthick Raju served as the supervisor of computer graphics.Thirudan Police (2014), starring Dinesh, marked his directorial debut. He described the film as having “elements of comedy, action, sentiment, and horror.”
He made the movie as an homage to fathers, and it was based on a short story written by his father. A reviewer stated of the movie: “Caarthick Raju’s comedy is his true strength. Early in the movie, a punch in the Ramarajan style foreshadows this. The moments of climax validate it. When the final scenes are this hilarious, you’re glad to suspend your disbelief.
As you leave, you can’t help but wonder if the director regrets not making a full-fledged comedy after seeing how much everyone laughs at the end. In 2015, he worked on Ulkuthu, his next film, which also starred Dinesh and was based on a fisherman. His upcoming films include the bilingual thriller film The Chase, starring Raiza Wilson, which was completed at the end of 2019.
He worked on the Tamil-language thriller film Kannadi with Sundeep Kishan, and Kishan suggested he make it in Telugu as well. He worked on the female-oriented thriller film Soorapanagai in Tamil and Nene Naa in Telugu, starring Regina Cassandra in 2020. The Tamil versions of both of his bilingual films remained unreleased at the end of 2020.
