Sidhu Moose Wala

Biography:

Sidhu Moose Wala (Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu) was an acclaimed Indian rapper and singer born on 11 June 1993 in the village of Moosa, Punjab, India. He emerged as one of the greatest Punjabi artists of his generation, making significant contributions to Punjabi-language music and cinema. Moose Wala played a pivotal role in bringing Punjabi artists into the mainstream music scene. His career reached notable milestones, including being named among 50 up-and-coming artists by The Guardian in 2020.

Moose Wala gained widespread recognition with his track “So High” and released his debut album “PBX 1” in 2018, peaking at number 66 on the Billboard Canadian Albums chart. Notably, he became the first Punjabi and Indian singer to perform at the Wireless Festival and achieved success with four awards at the Brit Asia TV Music Awards.

Born in Moosa, Punjab, Moose Wala started his career as a songwriter in 2016 and rose to prominence with his debut as a lead artist in 2017 with the song “G Wagon.” His tracks consistently charted globally, with the song “Bambiha Bole” among the top five on the Global YouTube music chart. In 2021, Moose Wala released “Moosetape,” a globally successful album that even topped the Billboard India Songs chart and surpassed 1 billion streams on Spotify, a historic feat for an Indian album.

In addition to his music career, Moose Wala joined the Indian National Congress (INC) political party in 2021 and contested the 2022 Punjab Legislative Assembly election for Mansa, although he was unsuccessful.
