-Destin Yori Daniel Cretton is a filmmaker from the United States. In addition to the Marvel Studios picture Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021), he is most renowned for directing the drama flicks Short Term 12 (2013), The Glass Castle (2017), and Just Mercy (2019).
On the Hawaiian island of Maui, in Haiku, Cretton was born and reared. He has half Japanese ancestry. His mother, a Christian, homeschooled him. Several of Destin’s efforts have involved his sister Joy, a costume designer. Up to the age of 19, he and his five siblings shared a two-bedroom home in Haiku. He relocated to Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego, California, where he majored in communications. Cretton spent two years working as a staff member at a group home for at-risk youths after graduating. As a pastime, he created short films, which led to a career. He went to San Diego State University’s film school and graduated.
