Srilekha Parthasarathy, known simply as Srilekha, is a highly talented Indian singer in Tamil cinema. Born and raised in a Tamil family, she spent her early years in Delhi. Srilekha developed a passion for music at a young age and honed her skills in both North and South Indian music, as well as Western music. Her musical journey began when she won the first prize in the All India Children’s Music Competition in New Delhi at the age of four.
In 2000, Srilekha initiated her professional career by recording the jingle for the “Idhayam Oil” advertisement. This jingle served as her entry point into the Tamil film industry, opening doors for her to showcase her exceptional talent.
Her debut in Tamil cinema was marked by the song “Yedho Ondru” from the movie “Lesa Lesa,” composed by renowned music director Harris Jayaraj. Subsequently, she lent her captivating voice to various songs, contributing to the musical landscape of Tamil cinema. Some notable tracks include “Poo Mugam Siricha” from the movie “Junction,” “Kaadhalaagi” in collaboration with S.P. Balasubramaniam in “Pop Carn,” and “Kalyaanam Dhaan” from the film “Saamy.”
Srilekha’s repertoire also features songs like “Vinodhane” (Thennavan), “Vaa Masakatre” (Kurumbu), “Ayurvedha Azhagi” (Thiruda Thirudi), “Dhimsu Kattai,” “Chinna Veeda,” “Kokku Meena Thinguma,” and “Pacchakili Pacchakili.”
Beyond her musical endeavors, Srilekha has made appearances in STAR Vijay’s drama serial “Dharmayutham.” She is married to singer M J Shriram.
