Damion Poitier

Biography:

Damion Poitier  born June 4, 1976 is an American actor and stunt performer, recognized for his role as Chains in Payday 2. He briefly portrayed Thanos in an uncredited role in The Avengers (2012), marking the character’s debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe before Josh Brolin assumed the role in later films. Poitier has also appeared in Captain America: Civil War, Star Trek, Jarhead, and Never Die Alone.

Born in Philadelphia, Poitier moved to Massachusetts as a child. He developed an interest in acting after seeing a man on television who reminded him of his grandfather discuss acting. He performed in school productions and landed his first professional role as a scare actor at Spooky World. His first major acting job was as a stunt performer on Sheena.

Poitier identifies as a Universalist. Although he is unsure of a familial connection to Sidney Poitier, he notes that their ancestors come from the same island.
