Born on April 30, 1978, Deepak Devraj Komath, or simply Deepak Dev, is an Indian music composer most recognized for his works in Malayalam film. Through the Siddique-directed film Chronic Bachelor (2003), he began his career in the film industry. In addition, Deepak used to be in the Indian rock group Motherjane, which was based in Kochi.
Deepak Dev was raised in Dubai but is originally from Tellicherry, Kerala. He was up learning Indian Carnatic music and attended the Indian High School there. Later, he became primarily interested in the keyboard. He was the brains behind the college rock band that won the annual “Talent Time – Woodstock” intercollege competition while he was a graduate student at Sacred Heart College. He began working with well-known musicians like A.R. Rahman, Shankar Ehsaan Loy, Sandeep Chowta, Vidyasagar, Anu Malik, M.M. Keeravani, Mani Sharma, and Adesh Shrivastav after concentrating on music programming.
