Riteish Deshmukh whose full name is Riteish Vilasrao Deshmukh is an Indian actor, television personality, and filmmaker active in both Hindi and Marathi cinema. He is the son of politician Vilasrao Deshmukh.
Commencing his acting journey with the film Tujhe Meri Kasam (2003), Deshmukh has since amassed a repertoire of successful ventures including Masti (2004), Kyaa Kool Hai Hum (2005), Bluffmaster! (2005), Malamaal Weekly (2006), Heyy Babyy (2007), Dhamaal (2007), Housefull (2010), Double Dhamaal (2011), Housefull 2 (2012), Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum (2012), Grand Masti (2013), Housefull 3 (2016), Total Dhamaal (2019), Housefull 4 (2019), and Baaghi 3 (2020). He garnered widespread acclaim for his portrayal of a serial killer in the romantic thriller Ek Villain (2014).
In Marathi cinema, he established his own production company, Mumbai Film Company, debuting as a producer with Balak-Palak (2013), and making his acting debut in Marathi with the action film Lai Bhaari (2014). He ventured into direction with Ved (2022).
Furthermore, Deshmukh has hosted numerous award ceremonies, including the International Indian Film Academy Awards and Zee Cine Awards. In 2013, he debuted on television as a judge on India’s Dancing Superstar. He has also co-hosted Yaadon Ki Baaraat and Vikta Ka Uttar, and made his web debut in 2021 co-hosting Ladies vs Gentlemen with Genelia D’souza. Since 2022, he has been seen as the Prosecuting Lawyer in Case Toh Banta Hai. Deshmukh serves as a board member of the Mumbai Academy of the Moving Image.
Born on 17 December 1978 in Mumbai to former Maharashtra chief minister and Union Minister of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises India, Vilasrao Deshmukh, and Vaishali Deshmukh, He is part of a family which is deeply involved in politics. His elder brother, Amit Deshmukh, represents Latur City in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, while his younger brother, Dhiraj Deshmukh, is an MLA from Latur Rural. His elder sister-in-law, Aditi Deshmukh, is an actress, and his younger sister-in-law, Deepshikha Deshmukh, is a film producer.
Deshmukh pursued his education at G. D. Somani Memorial School and obtained an architectural degree from Kamla Raheja College of Architecture, Mumbai. After a year with an overseas architectural firm, he resumed his architectural endeavors upon returning to India. Deshmukh maintains a stake in Evolutions, an architectural and interior design firm based in India. He tied the knot with Genelia D’Souza on 3 February 2012, following Marathi marriage customs, and the couple now have two children.
