Biography:

Avinash, whose birth name is Yelandur Narayan Ravindra, is a distinguished Indian actor celebrated for his work in South Indian cinema, particularly in Kannada and Tamil films. His illustrious career spans over three decades, and he has graced the screen in more than 200 films. Avinash is highly regarded for his exceptional portrayals of intricate characters, and his versatility as an actor has made him a sought-after talent in the supporting actor category. His ability to blend critical acclaim with commercial success sets him apart in the industry.

Born in Yelandur, Mysore (now in Chamarajanagar district, Karnataka), Avinash is the son of Indira and B. K. Narayana Rao, a lawyer. After completing his education at Mysore’s Hardwicke High School, he pursued a master’s degree in English literature at the University of Mysore. Despite his academic pursuits, Avinash was drawn to the world of theater and cinema from a young age. He had a vibrant theater career in Mysore and later in Bangalore, where he also worked as an English lecturer at educational institutions.

Avinash’s journey into films commenced with his debut in G. V. Iyer’s “Madhvacharya,” a film that revolved around the life of the twelfth-century enlightened master, Saint Madhva. This film garnered national and state awards. His introduction to mainstream cinema transpired with the Kannada film “Samyuktha,” starring Shivarajkumar. This successful outing marked the beginning of his prolific career in South Indian cinema, encompassing Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and English-language films. He collaborated with renowned directors and shared the screen with industry stalwarts, earning accolades for his performances in films like “Dweepa,” “Chinnari Muththa,” and “Mathadana,” which received National Awards. Avinash’s career also saw him in popular films like “Apthamitra,” “Chandramukhi,” and “Aptharakshaka,” which brought him recognition and numerous awards.

Avinash’s acting prowess allowed him to work alongside legendary actors such as Rajkumar, Rajnikanth, Mammooty, Vishnuvardhan, and contemporary stars like Puneeth Rajkumar, Sudeep, Yash, and many more. In his personal life, Avinash married Malavika, his co-star from the soap opera “Mayamruga,” in 2001, and they have a son named Gaalav.
