Ajay Gogavale, one half of the renowned duo Ajay-Atul, is a successful music director in the Marathi and Hindi film industries. Unfortunately, there is limited information available regarding his educational background and the institutions he attended.
Born in Rajguru Nagar, Maharashtra, India, Ajay’s full name is Ajay Ashok Gogavale. Contrary to appearances, he is the younger brother of Atul Gogavale, and he often takes on the role of the vocalist in their musical compositions.
Ajay received his early education in Shirur, a town near Pune. His family’s nomadic lifestyle, owing to his father’s government job, led to him living in various cities during his childhood. His early fascination with music began when he and his brother started imitating street bands as children. Their father supported their musical interests by providing them with a sophisticated and expensive keyboard during their college years.
Both Ajay and Atul completed their undergraduate degrees before relocating to Mumbai, where they embarked on careers creating jingles and recording music for unreleased albums and television programs. They even contributed to the musical score for the movie “Gayab,” featuring Tushar Kapoor.
One of their early successes was the Marathi film “Sahi re Sahi,” directed by Kedar Shinde. In 2004, they worked on the highly successful project “Aga Bai Arecha,” which produced hit songs like “Malhar Wari” and “Mann Udhan Varyache.”
In 2008, Ajay and Atul composed “Kombdi Palali,” one of their most popular Marathi songs, for the movie “Jatra.” A modified version of this song appeared in the Hindi film “Agneepath,” starring Hrithik Roshan.
