Biography:

Ilavarasu is a multifaceted Indian talent known for his contributions to the Tamil film industry as a cinematographer and actor. He embarked on his career as a cinematographer, working on 13 films and earning recognition, including a Tamil Nadu State Film Award for his work on “Manam Virumbuthe Unnai” in 1999. However, he gained more prominence as an actor, particularly in pivotal roles in films by directors like Bharathiraja and Cheran.

Ilavarasu’s acting career spans over 160 Tamil films, where he predominantly played supporting and comedian roles. His debut film was initially intended to be the unproduced “Top Tucker,” but he ultimately made his acting debut in Bharathiraja’s “Vedham Pudhithu” in 1987. Notable films in his extensive filmography include “Chennai 600028,” “Veeram,” “Kadaikutty Singam,” and “NGK.”

Apart from acting, Ilavarasu has showcased his talent as a cinematographer in films such as “Karuththamma,” “Panchalankurichi,” and “Manam Virumbuthe Unnai.” His versatility in both cinematography and acting has contributed to his enduring presence in the Tamil film industry. He has acted alongside star actors and in more than 150 films throughout his career.

In addition to his film career, Ilavarasu has also ventured into television, appearing in the 2022 series “Anandha Ragam” on Sun TV. His journey continues with upcoming projects like “Naai Sekar,” “Maaran,” and “Jana Gana Mana.”
