Born in July 1983 as Divya Gopikumar in Kerala, Abhirami is an Indian actress, television host, and reality show judge. Her primary work has been in Tamil and Malayalam cinema, with a few appearances in Telugu and Kannada films.
Abhirami gained prominence as a leading actress in the 2000s in the Tamil and Malayalam film industries. Some of her notable films during this period include “Sradha” (2000), “Middle Class Madhavan” (2001), “Charlie Chaplin” (2002), “Raktha Kanneeru” (2003), and “Virumaandi” (2004). After a 10-year hiatus from acting, she made a comeback in 2014, taking on supporting roles in various films until 2021 when she secured a lead role in “Maara” after 17 years.
Aside from her acting career, Abhirami also ventured into television as a reality show judge, notably in “Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li’l Champs” (season 3).
Her family relocated to the United States in 2004, where she secured employment. Her parents currently work as yoga instructors in Ohio. Abhirami pursued her education at Christ Nagar English High School and Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in Trivandrum. She completed her pre-degree training at Mar Ivanios College and went on to graduate with degrees in psychology and communications from the College of Wooster in Ohio.
