Plot
In a village, Chinnayya (Chiranjeevi) works for Peddayya (Vijayakumar), a wealthy man. Even though Chinnayya works as a laborer, she still has a lot of affection and respect for Peddayya. Like a father would, Peddayya shows Chinnayya a lot of love and treats him like his own son.
Peddayya despises both her husband, Peddabbayi (Prakash Raj), and his older daughter, Gowri (Sitara). Peddayya’s younger daughter Prabhavathy (Meena) comes to the hamlet after graduating from college in the United States.
Chinnayya does not love Prabhavathy back because she feels that doing so would be a violation of Peddayya’s faith in him. Eventually, Chinnayya comes to recognize and appreciate Prabhavathy’s true love as well.
Suddenly one day, Prabhavathy claims that Chinnayya attempted to rape her. Peddayya becomes enraged by this, strikes Chinnayya, and chases her out of his home.
At this point, Chinnayya’s father, Simhadri (also known as Chiranjeevi), gets let out of jail and visits Peddayya. Simhadri has gained Peddayya’s trust by working under him in the past as well.
However, Prabhavathy becomes enraged upon seeing Simhadri and requests that he leave the house because Simhadri was recently sentenced to prison for the murder of Peddayya’s wife Lakshmi (Sujatha).
In addition, Prabhavathy admits that she put on a play to separate Chinnayya from her father. When Peddayya realizes the reality, he is surprised and regrets misinterpreting Chinnayya and taking his daughter’s lies at face value.
Since he was a young child, Chinnayya has also hated his father Simhadri because he was thought to have killed Lakshmi. The narrative shifts to a flashback. Simhadri was Peddayya’s obedient servant.
Lakshmi’s younger brother Peddabbayi is set up for marriage with Gowri. When Lakshmi learns of Peddabbayi’s scheme to steal Peddayya’s properties on the day of the wedding, she chooses to call off the nuptials.
However, the marriage is consummated when Peddabbayi severely hurts Lakshmi and hides her in a chamber. However, Simhadri discovers Lakshmi and learns the whole truth about Peddabbayi.
Since the marriage is already finalized and going to jail will negatively affect Gowri’s life, he does not want Peddabbayi to go to jail. Simhadri admits to killing Lakshmi for money after learning of her death, and he is taken into custody by the authorities.
Gowri and Prabhavathy begin to despise him and his family as a result However, Peddayya does not accept this and visits Simhadri in jail to get the facts. After Simhadri tells Peddayya the whole truth, Peddayya is promised not to tell anybody else about it as Gowri will be by himself.
While agreeing, Peddayya kicks Peddabbayi out of his house. Gowri too departs from his house without comprehending her father or finding out the facts. When the story ends, Prabhavathy and Peddabbayi’s younger brother Chinababu (Ranjith), the third of the brothers, are getting married.
When Peddayya reveals this information to everyone on the wedding day, Peddabbayi makes an attempt to murder Gowri. However, Simhadri intervenes, is stabbed, and perishes.
After learning the truth—that Peddabbayi is the one who killed his sister Lakshmi—Chinababu kills Peddabbayi. Simhadri’s body is being seen by Peddayya, who is crying in front of it and eventually passing away as well. With Chinnayya and Prabhavathy’s marriage, the film comes to a close.
