Mohenjo Daro

Story:

“Mohenjo Daro” is a 2016 Indian film set in the ancient Indus Valley civilization. Directed by Ashutosh Gowariker and produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur and Sunita Gowariker, the movie stars Hrithik Roshan and Pooja Hegde. It tells the story of Sarman, a young man from the village of Amri, who ventures to the city of Mohenjo Daro and falls in love with Chaani, a high-status woman. However, he must challenge the city’s elite and fight against overwhelming odds to save their civilization.

The film is set in 2016 BCE and follows Sarman’s journey as he discovers secrets about the city’s rulers, including the tyrannical Senate Chief Maham and his son Moonja. Sarman’s encounter with Chaani leads him to uncover his own connection to Mohenjo Daro. Despite facing challenges, including a crocodile attack and political turmoil, Sarman resolves to fight for justice and freedom for himself and Chaani.

The movie’s plot unfolds with Sarman’s efforts to oppose oppressive taxes and win Chaani’s freedom from her forced engagement to Moonja. Along the way, Sarman learns about Maham’s corrupt past and uncovers the truth about his own origins.

Despite the film’s opulent production and A. R. Rahman’s musical score, “Mohenjo Daro” received mixed reviews and underperformed at the box office. However, it remains notable for its depiction of the ancient civilization and its blend of romance, action, and historical drama.
