TheatreThe 2015 Telugu-language action fantasy film Akhil The Power of Jua is produced by Nithin and M. Sudhakar Reddy under the Sresht Movies banner and directed by V. V. Vinayak. Sayyeshaa and Akhil Akkineni make their feature film debuts. Mani Sharma wrote the movie’s soundtrack, which was also co-written by Anup Rubens and S. Thaman. The dialogue was written by Kona Venkat, and Vinayak penned the screenplay based on the story provided by Veligonda Srinivas. The movie, which debuted on November 11, 2015, to much anticipation and fanfare, was a financial bust.
A voice tells the story thousands of years ago, warning of the Earth’s impending destruction at the hands of the Sun’s potent UV rays. A small number of Indian saints predicted this devastation and created a sphere out of the strongest metals, which have the capacity to absorb enormous amounts of UV radiation and shield the planet. A tribe in Congolia, Africa receives the sphere from them because it must be positioned at the equator of the planet. After cautioning them that it should be kept at the equator of the Earth during every solar eclipse, they depart. Earth should be severely damaged if they fail to see even one eclipse.
The Sphere is called Jua (Name of the Sun in Africa) by the African tribe. The story now shifts to the present, where a Russian don believes he can rule the world and is planning to capture the Jua in order to have the answer when everything is destroyed. He enlists the aid of an Indian don for this. The young graduate of the tribe named Bodo takes the Jua and flees when the Indian don sends his goons to retrieve it.
Akhil, a young, naive orphan in Hyderabad, fights in the streets to make money and celebrates with friends. Akhil meets Divya one day and falls in love with her right away. In a few meetings, he makes an impression on her by performing heart surgery on her rabbit, which requires assistance from Divya’s college principal, K. V. Rajendra Prasad. Akhil and his buddies are later invited to Divya’s wedding. When Akhil discovers that Divya’s fiancé, Kishore, is in love with another woman and links Kishore with his partner, Divya’s father—an Indian don—becomes enraged. Akhil plans to end the marriage. Divya, discouraged, decides to search for Kishore in Europe.
After discovering Divya is in Europe, Akhil decides to follow her. In an attempt to make Kishore envious, Divya asks Akhil to pretend to be her lover after he meets her in Europe. In the meantime, Bodo is being pursued by Mambo, an Indian don thug, who shoots him in the process of getting the Jua. When Bodo falls at Divya’s flat, she handles him like a medical professional. The very next day, Akhil breaks Divya’s marriage by admitting to her that he was the one who brought Kishore and his lover together. When she tries to leave after becoming enraged with him, Mambo, who saw Divya while tending to Bodo, kidnaps her. While pursuing them, Akhil is hurt, and Divya’s father hits him, realising that he is in love with her.
