Amol Rathod

Biography:

Amol Rathod is an accomplished Indian Director of Photography  hailing from Mumbai, Maharashtra. His passion for the film industry ignited at a young age, propelling him to pursue his dream relentlessly. With a master’s degree in Filmmaking and concurrent training in cinematography, Rathod embarked on his cinematic journey under the mentorship of seasoned filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma.

Rathod’s collaboration with Varma began as a camera assistant on the 2005 crime thriller “Sarkar,” loosely inspired by a gangster’s life. This partnership continued with two 2007 Bollywood films, “Aag” and “Darling.” In 2009, Rathod marked his independent cinematographer debut with “Oh, My God,” a film directed by Sourabh Shrivastava and produced by Amit Kapoor. The movie garnered acclaim from both audiences and critics, showcasing Rathod’s exceptional camera work.

His talents extended to diverse genres, including the 2010 Bollywood drama “Rann,” which delved into Indian politics and corruption. Notably, Rathod expanded his repertoire to the Telugu film industry in 2011 with the romantic drama “Nenu Naa Rakshashi,” directed by Puri Jagannadh. His collaboration with the iconic Amitabh Bachchan came to fruition in the same year with the thriller drama “Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap,” also directed by Jagannadh.

Rathod’s dedication was further evident in the 2014 Telugu romantic comedy “Heart Attack” and the 2017 film “Sarkar 3.” Reflecting on his experience working with Amitabh Bachchan, Rathod expressed profound respect for the actor’s work ethic, dubbing him the hardest-working figure in Indian cinema.

His involvement in the 2018 Bollywood romantic comedy “Dil Junglee” demonstrated Rathod’s unwavering commitment, despite the film receiving mixed feedback. Rathod’s unobtrusive yet pivotal role behind the camera has undoubtedly enriched Indian cinema, leaving an indelible mark on the landscape.
