Biography:

Soundararaja, an Indian actor and producer, is recognized for his roles in Tamil films, often in supporting and antagonistic capacities. Some of his notable performances include appearances in movies like “Sundarapandian” (2012), “Jigarthanda” (2014), and “Dharma Durai” (2016). Notably, he transitioned to a lead role in “Enakku Veru Engum Kilaigal Kidayathu” (2016), which marked a significant point in his career.

Born in Usilampatti, Madurai District, Soundararaja completed his schooling and college education before moving to Chennai. Unlike his academic performance, he found a passion for acting and pursued various odd jobs for income. He earned a B.E. degree from Bharath Niketan College of Engineering and later worked as a project engineer in international companies. Returning to India in 2008, he founded the film production company “Madurai Touring Talkies” and engaged in filmmaking and acting endeavors, collaborating with friends like director M. Manikandan.

Soundararaja’s journey in the film industry began as a background actor, gradually taking on more significant roles. He gained attention with his debut in Lingusamy’s “Vettai” (2011) and subsequently played key roles in movies like “Sundarapandian” and “Jigarthanda.” His negative role in the latter marked a turning point. He ventured into lead roles with “Enakku Veru Engum Kilaigal Kidayathu.” Apart from acting, he is also recognized for his activism, particularly his involvement in pro-jallikattu protests and environmental initiatives.
