Sathyan Sooryan

Biography:

Sathyan Sooryan is a renowned Indian cinematographer known for his work in Tamil and Telugu films. He graduated from the College of Fine Arts, Chennai, and gained valuable experience as an assistant to P. C. Sreeram.

His cinematic journey began with the film “Yuddham Sei” in 2011, where his skillful use of camera angles and lighting was praised by critics for enhancing the suspense and eerie atmosphere of the drama. The movie “Maya” also received critical acclaim for his exceptional cinematography. Another notable film that earned him accolades was “Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru,” with reviewers applauding his wide frames that transformed the harsh terrain into a formidable character on the big screen.

In 2019, Sooryan’s work in the film “Kaithi” was highly appreciated, further solidifying his reputation as a talented cinematographer. He later made his Telugu debut with the biographical film “Yatra” and received praise for his work in the Telugu film “Dasara” (2023).

During the production of “Dasara,” Sooryan faced the challenge of shooting day-to-day scenes amidst unpredictable weather conditions. Despite this, he managed to capture compelling visuals, even filming sunny sequences on overcast monsoon days. His dedication to the craft was evident as he worked with a large team of junior artists, ensuring the project’s success.
