Poonam Kaur is a versatile Indian actress, model, and politician, renowned for her work predominantly in Telugu and Tamil cinema. Born and raised in Hyderabad, India, she pursued her early education at Hyderabad Public School and later honed her skills in fashion designing at the prestigious National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) in Delhi.

Her journey in the world of entertainment began in 2006 when she signed up for a film directed by Teja. Although this project didn’t materialize for undisclosed reasons, she didn’t let setbacks deter her and embraced the opportunity to star in another Teja-directed film titled “Oka Vichitram.” Even before the release of “Oka Vichitram,” Poonam Kaur was already eyeing a lead role in the Telugu film “Mayajalam,” which eventually released before her other project.

Throughout her career, she graced several Telugu films with her presence, including “Nikki And Neeraj,” where she played the titular character Nikki, and “Souryam,” in which she shared the screen with acclaimed actors Gopichand and Anushka Shetty. Her performance in “Souryam” earned her a well-deserved nomination for the Best Supporting Actress Award in 2008.

Poonam Kaur also ventured into the Tamil and Kannada film industries, marking her debut in these industries with movies like S. A. Chandrasekhar’s “Nenjirukkum Varai” and “Bandhu Balaga,” respectively. One of her notable appearances came in the Tamil film “Unnaipol Oruvan” in 2010, a highly anticipated remake of the 2008 Bollywood hit “A Wednesday!” In this film, she played a small yet impactful supporting role alongside the legendary actors Kamal Haasan and Mohanlal.

In addition to her acting endeavors, Poonam Kaur has also made a mark in politics. She is a member of the Congress Party and is based in Telangana. Furthermore, she was honored with the nomination as a brand ambassador for the Miss Telangana event, further showcasing her multifaceted talents and contributions to her home state.
