Biography:
Laura Jane Haddock (born 21 August 1985) is a British actress recognized for her performances as Zoë Walker in White Lines, Max Meladze in The Recruit, Lucrezia Donati in Da Vinci’s Demons, Meredith Quill in Guardians of the Galaxy and its sequel, and Viviane Wembly in Transformers: The Last Knight.
She was born in Enfield, London, to a reflexologist mother and a financier father, and grew up in Harpenden, Hertfordshire, where she studied at St George’s School. At 17, Haddock left school to pursue acting in London, training at the Arts Educational School in Chiswick.
Haddock’s television career began in 2008 with the pilot Plus One, part of Comedy Showcase. The following year, she played Natasha in ITV1’s Monday Monday and appeared in How Not to Live Your Life. In 2011, she had a guest role in Strike Back: Project Dawn and starred as Lucrezia Donati in Da Vinci’s Demons. That same year, she appeared in The Inbetweeners Movie as Alison, earning a nomination for the Empire Award for Best Female Newcomer.
Her stage credits include Famous Last (2009) and Rutherford & Son. On film, she portrayed Meredith Quill in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) and its 2017 sequel, and later played Viviane Wembly in Transformers: The Last Knight (2017). She also starred in ITV’s The Level. More recently, she appeared in a 2021 holiday campaign for retailer OKA and in 2022 took on the role of Maxine Meladze in Netflix’s The Recruit.
In her personal life, Haddock married actor Sam Claflin in July 2013 after two years of dating. The couple had a son and a daughter before announcing their separation in August 2019.
