Biography:

Sreeja Ravi, an Indian voice artist, has an extensive career in dubbing, lending her voice to over 2000 films and numerous commercial ads. Her journey in the world of dubbing commenced in 1975 with the movie “Uttarayanam,” directed by G. Aravindan. Her remarkable talent has earned her several accolades, including four Kerala State Film Awards, one Tamil Nadu State Film Award, and two Kerala Film Critics Awards for her outstanding dubbing work.

What sets Sreeja apart is her linguistic versatility. She is proficient in Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, English, and Kannada. Her proficiency in these six major Indian languages has allowed her to excel in dubbing roles for foreign productions.

Sreeja Ravi’s upbringing was marked by a strong connection to the world of entertainment. She was born to Kannur Narayani, a theater and dubbing artist, and Kunjukuttan, a mechanical engineer. After her father’s passing in 1972, the family relocated to Chennai, where her mother continued her career in dubbing and acting. Sreeja often accompanied her mother to studios and eventually found herself drawn to dubbing work. She hails from a large family with eight siblings, two of whom are no longer with them.

In her personal life, Sreeja is married to Raveendranathan, and they have a daughter named Raveena Ravi, who has also followed in her footsteps and become a dubbing artist in Tamil, Malayalam, and Telugu.

Throughout her career, Sreeja Ravi also ventured into acting, making appearances in films such as “Manassu” (1973), “Sethubandhanam” (1974), and “Raathriyile Yaathrakkaar” (1976). Her acting career included a notable role in “Kandukonden Kandukonden” (2000), where she portrayed a pregnant programmer who discusses housing difficulties with Tabu’s character.

In recent years, Sreeja Ravi has been involved in dialogue writing and dubbing direction, contributing to the Tamil and Malayalam dubbed versions of films like “Shaakuntalam.” Her remarkable career in the world of dubbing has made her a respected figure in the Indian film industry, where she has often provided her voice for leading actresses such as Kavya Madhavan, Divya Unni, Shalini, Gopika, Devayani, Sunitha, Charmila, and Nayanthara, as well as Roma.
