Biography:

Pasupathy, an Indian actor born on September 5, 1967, has made a significant mark in Tamil cinema with his versatile acting skills. He is known for his exceptional performances in a variety of roles, including supporting, antagonistic, comedic, and protagonistic characters. One of his notable achievements was winning the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor and the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the film “E” in 2006. He also received an ITFA Best Supporting Actor Award for his performance in “Kuselan” in 2008. Pasupathy’s talent extends beyond Tamil cinema, as he has appeared in Malayalam, Telugu, and Kannada films.

Born in Vannandurai, a neighborhood in Chennai, India, Pasupathy began his career in the renowned theatre group “Koothu-P-Pattarai” in 1984 and continued until 1997. His journey in the film industry began when he was introduced to Kamal Haasan and cast as a villain in the shelved project “Marudhanayagam.” His first significant role came in the film “Virumaandi” as Kothaala Thevar, marking the beginning of a successful career that included negative roles in movies like “Dhool,” “Sullan,” “Madhurey,” and “Thirupaachi.” Pasupathy later explored comedic roles with “Mumbai Xpress” and “Majaa.”

His lead role in the National Film Award-winning film “Veyyil” was a turning point, and he continued to shine in lead roles in movies like “Raman Thediya Seethai” and “Kuselan.” Notably, he portrayed Kombhoodhi in “Aravaan,” a period-based action drama, and Annachi in “Idharkuthane Aasaipattai Balakumara,” receiving critical acclaim for both roles. Pasupathy also ventured into independent English films, such as “The Last Vision.” His upcoming projects include “Appavin Meesai,” “Mosakutty,” “Sakunthalaavin Kaadhalan,” “Yagavarayinum Naa Kaakka,” “Anjala,” and several others, showcasing his continued dedication to the film industry. In 2014, he portrayed Aditya Karikalan in a theatrical adaptation of “Ponniyin Selvan.”
