Indian actress and model Genelia Deshmukh (D’Souza; born 5 August 1987) is most frequently seen in Telugu, Hindi, and Tamil movies. D’Souza launched her acting career in 2003 with the commercial success Tujhe Meri Kasam after becoming well-known for her appearance in a Parker Pen commercial with Amitabh Bachchan. The same year, she received praise for her work in Boys.
In 2006, D’Souza won her first Filmfare Award for the critically acclaimed role she played in the Telugu romantic comedy Bommarillu. She delivered critically acclaimed performances in the 2008 movies Santosh Subramaniam, a Tamil version of Bommarillu, and Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na. D’Souza has acted in film and television productions in addition to hosting the program Big Switch.
Satyam (2003), Sye (2004), Sachein (2005), Happy (2006), Dhee (2007), Ready (2008), Katha (2009), Urumi (2011), and the Hindi movies Masti (2004), Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na (2008), and Force (2011) are only a few of her well-known works. D’Souza was hailed as one of the prominent actresses of the South Indian film industry in the 2000s after appearing in a number of commercially successful Telugu and Tamil films.
D’Souza is a Mangalorean Catholic who was born in Mumbai. She was reared in Mumbai’s Bandra neighborhood. The managing director of the Pharma Multinational Corporation was her mother, Jeanette D’Souza. In 2004 she quit her job to support D’Souza’s profession. Neil D’Souza, her father, holds a top position with Tata Consultancy Services. Nigel D’Souza, her younger brother, is employed by the Bombay Stock Exchange.
