Plot
Aryan Agnihotri is a talented robotics engineer who was born in Delhi and currently resides in Mumbai. He aspires to be like his aunt, Urmila Shukla, who owns the Los Angeles-based company E-Robotics. After receiving an invitation from Urmila to visit the US, Aryan eventually gets to meet SIFRA (Super Intelligent Female Robot Automation), Urmila’s secretary. Unaware that SIFRA is a robot, Aryan develops feelings for her. However, he discovers later that SIFRA is actually a robot that his aunt constructed as a test to see if people could tell SIFRA from themselves.
Aryan, devastated by the news, goes back to India and consents to an arranged marriage. However, Aryan becomes aware of his genuine feelings for SIFRA as the engagement draws near. He chooses to leave the engagement ceremony covertly, but his grandfather catches him and tells Aryan to follow his heart and that he will take care of the family while he is away. Aryan calls his aunt and asks her to send SIFRA to India for additional “testing” in a typical Indian family environment so he may introduce her to his family. After Urmila consents, SIFRA is dispatched to India, where Aryan presents her as his girlfriend, resulting in a number of hilarious incidents.
Unaware of SIFRA’s true purpose, Aryan’s family consents to their union. But right before the wedding, SIFRA installs a malicious update that is infected with a virus, corrupting her memory and making her forget everything. When Aryan calls his aunt for assistance out of desperation, she provides him with a memory backup. SIFRA’s memory is successfully restored by Aryan, but when Urmila finds out that Aryan intended to wed SIFRA, she becomes enraged. She asserts that she is her company’s intellectual property (IP) and demands that Aryan return SIFRA. Aryan persuades his aunt to allow him to keep SIFRA after an intense discussion.
SIFRA malfunctions on their wedding day due to a blackout that happens while she is charging. She starts to speak incoherently and walk erratically, carrying out previously issued commands that have since been revoked, such as “set Delhi on fire.” After seeing SIFRA’s devastation, a distraught Aryan is compelled to stop her by slashing her face with a sword, exposing the inner workings and recognizing that, despite her human look, she can never be fully human.
Later, Urmila introduces a new line of robots, including SIFRA 2.0, at a tech event in Mumbai. Aryan is no longer her administrator, and the new SIFRA has formatted her memory and settings. Aryan is approached and flirted with by Jiah, a recent intern. As he watches them connect, the new SIFRA begins to show signs of jealousy, which shocks Aryan because he knows she might be starting to feel something.
