Janhvi Kapoor Reveals Why She Stayed Silent

Janhvi Kapoor has opened up about the controversy surrounding her role in Peddi, starring Ram Charan.

She admitted that some scenes involved excessive objectification and could send a wrong message about sexual assault.

Speaking on a show, Janhvi said she initially hesitated to speak out because many people had worked hard on the film. However the criticism continued to trouble her.

She admitted that she should have raised her concerns more strongly during the shoot especially given her privileged background.

The controversy focused on her character Achiyamma with viewers questioning certain scenes and the portrayal of consent. Director Buchi Babu Sana later apologised for the controversial portions.
