Karthik is a youthful, optimistic software engineer. He works for a software company and sends money to his father, who has numerous debts. Since their college years, Chaitra has been in love with Karthik and makes a lot of effort to court him. Karthik, though, seems disinterested. She even visits Karthik in the company of her mother to ask for a love recommendation. Everyone was thrilled when Karthik was promoted to manager of the company’s US branch; however, after all of his debts were paid off, Karthik made the decision to leave his job and pursue a career as a farmer. Karthik kindly declines Chaitra’s request to meet her father, stating that even though he likes her, he intends to become a farmer.
Chaitra’s father is offended by this and won’t let her see Karthik. Karthik’s father is not pleased with his choice and avoids communicating with him because it disappoints him. Later on, Karthik discovers that everyone from his village who works in the city is leading an extremely difficult life. He calls a meeting of all his villagers and instructs them to return to the village so that they can resume farming. Everyone initially objects to the idea and departs, but eventually some of the villagers choose to resume farming. Karthik has an idea about Ummadi Vyavasayam when they approach him. They all think it’s a good idea and begin gathering all the materials.
Chaitra returns later for Karthik and continues her farming. The village’s zamindar, Ekambaram, intends to take all of their lands and rename their community Ekambarapuram, but Karthik foils his schemes. Karthik intended to use the proceeds from the sale of their first crop to assist a neighbour in the village. Reluctantly, some of them agreed even though they didn’t like the idea. Later, Ekambaram tells the locals that Karthik is exploiting their land for personal gain. A few of them erect fences around their farm because they think that Ekambaram is real. Unfriendly with him, Karthik’s father requests to sign the land documents so he can sell them to fund his daughter’s wedding.
When Karthik objects, his father moves out of the village and into the city, far from Karthik. In the meantime, a new coronavirus pandemic blocks all roads, preventing the shipment of crops to markets. Subsequently, Karthik comes across an app named “Sreekaram” that facilitates direct crop sales to consumers rather than supermarkets. After placing an order, customers can have sanitised items delivered to their homes.
Later on, Karthik finds out about Ekambaram’s scheme and challenges him. Following a conversation, Ekambaram acknowledges his error and begins aiding the villagers. They quickly sell all of their crops, and the app gains popularity. Those villagers who had previously left him come back to the village and join them. Additionally, Karthik’s parents come home. At their sister’s wedding, Karthik and Chaitra eventually get back together when their parents cross paths.
