Cherukuri Ramoji Rao, born on November 16, 1936, is an Indian businessman, media tycoon, and film producer. He leads the Ramoji Group, which possesses several prominent assets including the world’s largest film production facility, Ramoji Film City, as well as Eenadu newspaper, ETV Network of TV channels, and Usha Kiran Movies. His diverse business ventures encompass Margadarsi Chit Fund, Dolphin Group of hotels, Kalanjali shopping mall, Priya pickles, and Mayuri Film Distributors.
Cherukuri Ramoji Rao has received numerous accolades for his contributions to Telugu cinema, including four Filmfare Awards South, five Nandi Awards, and the National Film Award. In 2016, he was honored with the Padma Vibhushan, India’s second-highest civilian distinction, recognizing his significant impact on journalism, literature, and education.
Born into an agricultural family in Pedaparupudi, Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh, India, Cherukuri Ramoji Rao has left an indelible mark on various sectors. Tragically, his younger son, Cherukuri Suman, passed away due to leukemia on September 7, 2012.
