Vijay K. Chakravarthy is a renowned Indian film cinematographer, mainly recognized for his exceptional contributions to Telugu cinema. He was born in South Tamil Nadu’s Pattyveeranpatty. His family wanted him to aim higher and pursue careers as a doctor or engineer, but he was inspired when watching Balu Chandra’s directorial debut, “Azhiyada Kalangal,” and that is when he first began to consider a career in the film business.
He decided to become a cinematographer after seeing another PC Sreeram film, which was directed by Manila Ratnam, four years later. His father wished for him to finish school and work for the government. But he was going to be set somewhere else by his dreams. After quitting economics after six months and quitting polytechnic as well, he persuaded his father to take a job with Doordarshan.
He has left an indelible mark through his work in blockbuster movies like Bommarillu, Parugu, Mr. Perfect, and Nannaku Prematho. Vijay’s exceptional talent was acknowledged when he received a nomination for the SIIMA Award for Best Cinematographer (Telugu) at the 1st SIIMA ceremony, for his remarkable cinematography in the movie Mr. Perfect.
