Theatre“Kick 2,” a 2015 Indian Telugu-language action comedy film, serves as a sequel to the 2009 film “Kick” and is directed by Surender Reddy from a story penned by Vakkantham Vamsi. Produced by Nandamuri Kalyan Ram under the banner of N.T.R. Arts, the film features Ravi Teja, Rakul Preet Singh, and Ravi Kishan in prominent roles.
Teja undertakes a dual role, portraying both father and son. Supporting cast members include Kabir Duhan Singh, Ashish Vidyarthi, Brahmanandam, Shaam, and Rajpal Yadav, with the musical score composed by S. Thaman. The official launch of “Kick 2” occurred on 20 August 2014, marking the commencement of principal photography on the same day.
The film’s audio soundtrack, crafted by S. Thaman, was released on 9 May 2015, leading up to its global release on 21 August 2015. Despite high expectations, the film underperformed at the box office, grossing ₹43.5 crore against a budget of ₹30 crore, resulting in below-average box office results. The narrative of “Kick 2” unfolds with Kalyan Krishna visiting Virginia to meet Kalyan, now married to Naina.
Kalyan shares insights about his son, Robin Hood, who stands in stark contrast to his father in terms of character. Robin, seeking comfort in life, ventures to Hyderabad to reclaim family land seized by Settlement Durga. His confrontation with Durga leads him to the home of Pandit Ravi Teja, an astrologer connected to Durga’s actions.
Robin proceeds to disrupt Pandit’s life, and the plot thickens when he encounters Chaitra, an aspiring writer, setting conditions for his stay. Simultaneously, villagers from Vilaspur, aiming to be liberated from the tyranny of Solomon Singh Thakur, view Robin as their potential savior. Robin succeeds in reclaiming his land but discovers his feelings for Chitra just before departing for Virginia. Learning of Chitra’s kidnapping by Vilaspur villagers, he travels there, encountering staged dramas to prolong his stay.
A duel ensues between Robin and Thakur’s son, Munna, resulting in a coma and subsequent challenges. Thakur eventually kills Munna, leading to a hostage situation in Vilaspur. Robin initially abandons the villagers upon realizing their deceit, but a change of heart prompts his return to confront Thakur. Thakur’s army, formerly loyal, turns against him, and a final showdown ensues. Robin incapacitates Thakur, leaving his fate to the villagers, who execute him using the same brutal method he imposed on them. The film concludes with Robin and Chaitra reuniting, and the announcement of a sequel, “Kick 3.”
