Story:

“Kalavaadiya Pozhuthugal” is a 2017 Indian Tamil-language romantic drama film directed by Thangar Bachan. The movie features Prabhu Deva and Bhumika Chawla in lead roles, supported by Prakash Raj, Inbanila, and Ganja Karuppu. Sathyaraj makes a guest appearance as Periyar E. V. Ramasamy, reprising his role from “Periyar” (2007). Despite commencing production in 2009, the film faced delays due to financial issues with Ayngaran International, the production studio. It eventually hit screens on 29 December 2017 and received acclaim for its compelling storyline.

The plot revolves around Porchezhiyan (Prabhu Deva), a car driver and the primary provider for his family, consisting of his wife Rani (Inbanila) and daughter Yazhini. Rani, aspiring for more, is discontent with her husband’s generous yet lackadaisical nature. Chezhiyan, a devoted follower of Periyar, advocates for societal welfare, a viewpoint that clashes with Rani’s practical concerns, especially for their daughter’s well-being.

Chezhiyan’s life takes a turn when he saves businessman Soundararajan (Prakash Raj) in an accident. As he ensures Soundararajan’s medical care, he unexpectedly encounters Jayanthi (Bhumika), Soundararajan’s wife. The memories of their past connection linger, complicating Chezhiyan’s emotions. Despite the challenges, fate brings Chezhiyan, Jayanthi, and Soundararajan together, rekindling their intertwined destinies. The narrative explores the complexities of their relationships, acknowledging that they can’t recreate the romance of their past.
