Although Bharadwaj was raised in Delhi, he was born in Ravanasamudram, in the Tirunelveli District of Tamil Nadu.Indian singer-songwriter and music composer Ramani Bharadwaj is most known for his roles in Tamil films. The Tamil Nadu State Government has awarded him the Kalaimamani Award for 2008.
His first compositions were for the television series Vizhudhugal and telugu films. In 1998, he had his debut with the film Kadhal Mannan, starring Ajith Kumar.

Bharadwaj received two Filmfare Awards for his contributions to the films Autograph (2004) and Gemini (2002).Additionally, the Tamil Nadu State Government awarded him the Kalaimamani Award for 2008.
In 2004, his song “Ovvavaru Pookalume” from the Tamil film Autograph took home the National Award for Best Lyric Writer and Best Singer.
