On September 16, 2011, the movie debuted to overwhelmingly good reviews and went on to become a critical and financial triumph. The movie, titled Journey in Telugu, was released on December 16, 2011.Later, the movie was adapted in Bengali as Bojhena Shey Bojhena and Kannada as Endendu Ninagagi.
The movie centers on two love tales that occur in Chennai and Tiruchirappalli; one lasts for a day, while the other continues for several months.
The movie opens with an incident. The scene then cuts to a few months earlier, when Amudha, a Trichy native and village girl, travels to Chennai for a job interview but her sister is unavailable to meet her in order to give her directions. A guy named Gautham offers to help Amudha and would drive her to the bus station. In the end, though, he spends the entire day traveling with her, waiting for her at the interview, and then leaving her off at her sister’s house in the evening. Over the course of the day, she gains comprehension
Gautham recognizes her feelings and responds with composure and reserve. When Amudha comes to Tiruchi the next day, she discovers that she has fallen in love with Gautham and turns off suitors who approach her for marriage. She makes the decision to see him again in Chennai. Even though he doesn’t know Amudha’s address or any other information about her save her name, Gautham resolves to travel to Tiruchi to find her after realizing he has fallen in love.
There’s a follow-up story. The owner of a metal company named Kathiresan has affections for his neighbor, a nurse named Manimegalai. He watches her every morning for six months, but he never says anything to her because he is a shy and soft-spoken man. Manimegalai is brave and forthright; she grants him love and gives him harsh instructions. She puts him through a series of tests, including forcing him to take an HIV test, meet her father—a police officer—and her ex-boyfriend independently. She also gets him to consent to organ donation. Kathiresan says he wants to marry her and spend the rest of his life with her, and she wants him to make that decision based on everything she has put him through. The two develop to love each other without conditions and with permission from their families.
The two board a bus to travel to Arasur, a village close to Villupuram, where Kathiresan has decided to take Manimegalai to visit his relatives. In the meantime, Gautham takes the same bus that Kathiresan and Manimegalai are riding in order to return from Tiruchi. Concurrently, Amudha gets on a bus to head back from Chennai. A woman and her child, a girls’ sports team, a recently married couple, two college students who are attracted to one another, and a man traveling back from Dubai to meet his five-year-old daughter for the first time are among the other passengers that can be seen in passing.
