Shashaa Tirupati, born on December 21, 1989, is a Canadian playback singer, songwriter, and music producer of Indian heritage. Widely recognized as “The Humma Girl,” she earned critical acclaim and prestigious awards for her playback singing. In 2018, she clinched the National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer and the Filmfare Award for the Tamil song “Vaan Varuvaan” from the movie Kaatru Veliyidai.
With a remarkable repertoire of over 200 songs, Tirupati has showcased her versatile voice across more than 20 languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Punjabi, Malayalam, Kannada, Bengali, Konkani, Arabic, and English. She’s renowned for her contributions to Bollywood hits such as “Khulke Jeene Ka” from Dil Bechara, “The Humma Song” in OK Jaanu, “Phir Bhi Tumko Chahunga” and “Baarish” for Half Girlfriend, “Kanha” from Shubh Mangal Savdhan, and tracks like “O Sona Tere Liye” and “Chal Kahin Door” from the film Mom.
Shashaa’s versatility extends beyond playback singing. She has showcased her talents as a music producer and songwriter, gaining attention for her recreation of iconic classics like “Kajra Muhabbat Wala/Ude Jab Jab,” which became viral across social media platforms.
In January 2022, she marked her debut as an independent artist with the release of her first single, ‘In My Skin,’ from her EP titled ‘I’m Sorry, Heart,’ collaborating with celebrated guitarist Keba Jeremiah.
