Theatre“Chaitanya” is a Telugu-language action road film released in 1991, directed and written by Prathap K. Pothan. The movie was produced by Sathyam Babu and featured Nagarjuna, Gautami, and Girish Karnad in important roles. The film’s music was composed by Ilaiyaraaja. It was also simultaneously dubbed into Tamil and Malayalam under the title “Madras To Goa.”
“Chaitanya” revolves around the Roots Challenge 1991 Automotive rally, with Chaitanya as the chief mechanic. Amidst a backdrop of illegal activities along the Chennai to Goa route, a friend’s murder leads to Chaitanya being wrongfully imprisoned.
He escapes with a henchman, hiding in a water tanker. Believed dead, Chaitanya seeks justice and uncovers a web of crime. As he unravels the mystery, he falls in love with Padmini, and shocking revelations reveal that her father, Harischandra, is the criminal mastermind behind drug trade, arms trafficking, and murders. The film climaxes with Chaitanya eliminating Harischandra, restoring justice.
