Early Life:
Gautami Tadimalla, an Indian actress and politician, was born on July 2, 1969. In addition to Malayalam, Hindi, and Kannada films, she has primarily acted in Tamil and Telugu. From 1987 through 1998, she was a well-known South Indian actress. She founded the Life Again Foundation, in addition to acting and hosting on television and designing costumes for movies.
Personal Life:
To T. R. Seshagiri Rao and Vasundhara Devi, Gautami was born in Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh. Her mother was a pathologist and diagnostician, while her father was a pioneering radiation oncologist. Bishop Cotton Girls’ School in Bangalore was where Gautami studied.
In 1998, Gautami wed the businessman Sandeep Bhatia; in 1999, their daughter Subbulakshmi was born. Later, they separated in 1999.
From 2004 till 2016, Gautami was romantically involved with actor Kamal Haasan. Gautami declared the end of her relationship with him in 2016 on her blog. It is painful for me to have to declare today that I and Mr Haasan are no longer together, Gautami said on her blog. It has been one of the most difficult decisions I have ever had to make in my life after spending over 13 years together.
She was 35 when she received a breast cancer diagnosis, but she eventually made a full recovery.
Film career:
Rajinikanth and Prabhu’s 1988 film Guru Shishyan, launched her to the Tamil film business. Between 1987 and 1998, she was largely active in Tamil films.
Gautami pursued an engineering degree at GITAM University in Visakhapatnam. With the 1987 Telugu film Dayamayudu, Gautami made her acting debut. that her cousin made was produced. She later starred alongside Venkatesh and Bhanupriya in films like Srinivasa Kalyanam.
Her prominent roles in Malayalam films include those in His Highness Abdullah (1990), Daddy (1992), Mammootty (1993), and Ayala the Adheham (1993), all starring Mohanlal. M. T. Vasudevan Nair, a writer, wrote her part in Sukrutham (1994). She has appeared in several Kannada films, including Elu Suttina Kote (1987), Chikkejamanru (1992), and Cheluva (1997), as well as several Hindi films, including Pyar Hua Chori Chori (1991), Aadmi (1993), Janta Ki Adalat (1994), Trimurti (1995), Dhaal (1997), and Haiwan (1998).
She appeared in several well-known Tamil films, including Apoorva Sagodharargal (1989), Raja Chinna Roja (1989), Panakkaran (1990), Ooru Vittu Ooru Vanthu (1990), Namma Ooru Poovatha (1990), Dharma Durai (1991), Nee Pathi Naan Pathi (1991), Rickshaw Mama (1992), Thevar Magan (1992), Honest Raj (1994), Nammavar (1994).
In the 1993 movie Gentleman, she had a cameo appearance in the song “Chikku Bukku Railu” with Prabhu Deva. Despite being set in 1996, her 2006 film Sasanam with Arvind Swami was actually shot that year. In the Tamil drama Indira, she portrayed the main character. Anbudan was the name of the chat show she hosted for Sun TV. She appeared in the Kalaignar TV drama Abirami as an actor. In the late 2000s, she returned to the movie business, this time as a costume designer for films starring Kamal Haasan, her spouse. For her work on Dasavathaaram (2008), she received the Vijay Award for Best Costume Designer. Later, she styled a number of her other films, such as Uttama Villain (2015) and Vishwaroopam (2013).
After a break of sixteen years, she made a comeback to acting by co-starring with Kamal Haasan in the Tamil version of the Malayalam film Drishyam, Papanasam (2015). His movie Manamantha (2016), which starred Mohanlal, received favourable public reviews in 2016. In the lead role of the 2017 horror movie E, she returned to Malayalam after a 14-year absence. She is portraying a significant role in Thupparivaalan 2, which is directed by and stars Vishal.
Political career :
Gautami has been a BJP member since 1997. She was vice president of BJYM. She joined the party in 1997 when LK Advani was its leader. During that time, she actively promoted Atal Bihari Vajpayee in the states of Andhra, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu. She stopped engaging in politics after the birth of her daughter. She rejoined the BJP in 2017. She was chosen to oversee the Rajapalayam Assembly constituency in 2021.
