TheatreAaja Nachle, an Indian Hindi-language dance film, was produced by Aditya Chopra and directed by Anil Mehta. Featuring Madhuri Dixit in her comeback role after five years since Devdas (2002), it also stars Konkona Sen Sharma, Jugal Hansraj, Akshaye khanna, and Kunal Kapoor in significant roles. The film’s vibrant soundtrack, composed by Salim–Sulaiman with lyrics by Jaideep Sahni and Piyush Mishra, was released on August 16, 2007.
The storyline follows Dia’s return to her hometown, where she discovers that her beloved dance theater is slated for demolition. In a bid to save it, she endeavors to rally the disinterested townsfolk for a spirited dance performance to champion her cause.
Aaja Nachle premiered in India and the United States on November 30, 2007. Despite receiving mixed-to-negative reviews and being deemed a commercial disappointment by Box Office India, the film garnered two nominations at the 53rd Filmfare Awards – Best Actress for Dixit and Best Female Playback Singer for Sunidhi Chauhan’s rendition of “Aaja Nachle.”
