Biography:

Akhilesh Mishra is a renowned Indian character actor who has made a significant mark in both the film and television industry. He gained widespread recognition for his portrayal of Kroor Singh in the 1990s Doordarshan fantasy TV series “Chandrakanta.” Another memorable role in his career was that of Mirchi Seth in the critically acclaimed 1999 film “Sarfarosh.” Furthermore, he portrayed the character of Arjan in the Academy Award-nominated movie “Lagaan.” In a television adaptation of the Hindu epic “Ramayana” in 2008, he took on the role of the demon king Ravana.

Akhilendra Mishra also played the antagonist opposite Salman Khan in the 1995 release “Veergati.”

Born in Siwan, Bihar, Mishra completed his schooling at Chhapra Zila School and pursued a Bachelor of Science in Physics (Honours) at Chapra’s Rajendra College. Although he initially aspired to become an engineer, Mishra’s passion for acting led him to the theater at a young age. His theatrical journey began with a role in a Bhojpuri drama centered around child marriage titled “Gauna Ki Rat.” He later honed his acting skills by joining the Indian People’s Theatre Association (IPTA) and the Ekjut theatre group.

Mishra made his first appearance in the movie “Dharavi” in 1993, directed and written by Sudhir Mishra, which received the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi, Best Music Direction, and Best Editing in 1993. His role as Arjan in the Academy Award-nominated film “Lagaan” also left a lasting impact.
