Story:

“Sita Ramam” is a 2022 Indian Telugu-language film directed and written by Hanu Raghavapudi. Produced by Vyjayanthi Movies and Swapna Cinema, the movie features Dulquer Salmaan and Mrunal Thakur in lead roles. The story is set in 1964 and follows Lieutenant Ram, an orphaned army officer stationed at the Kashmir border. After receiving anonymous love letters from Sita Mahalakshmi, Ram embarks on a mission to find her and express his love.

The film’s production took place in various locations, including Hyderabad, Kashmir, and Russia, with principal photography starting in April 2021 and concluding in April 2022. The music for the film was composed by Vishal Chandrasekhar, with cinematography by P. S. Vinod and Shreyaas Krishna.

Released on August 5, 2022, “Sita Ramam” received positive reviews for its direction, storyline, soundtrack, performances, and emotional depth. It emerged as a major commercial success, grossing ₹91.4 crores (11 million USD) at the box office, ranking as the ninth highest-grossing Telugu film of 2022.

The narrative begins in 1964, where a Pakistani extremist named Ansari plans to exploit the bond between Kashmiri Pandits and Muslims using brainwashed teenagers sent to live in Kashmir. Jumping to 1985, an aggressive Pakistani individual named Afreen is asked to apologize to an Indian philanthropist for burning his car. To avoid prison, she seeks financial help from her estranged grandfather in Pakistan. However, she discovers that her grandfather has passed away and that she must deliver a letter written by Lieutenant Ram in 1965 to Sita Mahalakshmi in Hyderabad.

Afreen, facing challenges, seeks assistance from an Indian senior named Balaji and an accountant named Subramanyam. Through a series of events, they uncover the story of Ram, who received love letters from Sita but faced challenges in connecting with her due to misunderstandings and external factors.

As Afreen and Balaji unravel the past, they discover the complex relationship between Ram and Sita, involving a covert mission, the capture of Pakistani prisoners, and the misinterpretation that led to Ram’s execution. The film explores themes of love, sacrifice, and the impact of historical events on personal lives.
In the end, Sita receives a letter revealing Ram’s sacrifice for the country, while Afreen, who is revealed to be the girl Waheeda from Ram’s past, finds closure. The film concludes with Sita exposing the truth, clearing Ram’s reputation, and receiving a medal for his patriotism.

Despite the intricate plot, “Sita Ramam” captivates audiences with its emotional depth, strong performances, and impactful storytelling. The film successfully navigates through historical events and personal relationships, leaving a lasting impression on viewers.
