She received formal training in Indian classical and light music under the guidance of Pandit Aaskaran Sharma, allowing her to master a wide array of genres, including ghazals, film songs, Punjabi, and Rajasthani folk music.
Her journey in the music industry began in 1994 when she relocated to Mumbai to pursue her aspirations in Bollywood. Despite challenges, she made her Bollywood debut with the movie “Salma Pe Dil Aa Gaya” in 1996. However, her breakthrough came with the film “Taal,” where she collaborated with the legendary A.R. Rahman. Subsequently, she delivered numerous hits in films like “Zubeidaa,” “Saathiya,” “Khakee,” “Baghban,” “Kal Ho Naa Ho,” “Saawariya,” “Om Shanti Om,” among others, showcasing her vocal versatility.
Richa Sharma has not only excelled in playback singing but has also showcased her talent in albums like “Ni Main Yaar Nu Sajda Kardi,” “Piya,” and “Winds of Rajasthan.” Her devotion to music expanded into devotional albums, notably releasing “Sai Ki Tasveer,” dedicated to Saibaba, in March 2011.
