Biography:

Rahul Arunoday Banerjee, commonly known as Rahul Banerjee, was an Indian actor, author, and theater personality who worked in the Bengali entertainment industry. The son of a theatrical director, he started his career from the stage at the age of three years and performed in hundreds of theatre plays before making it to television. He became recognized after the Zee Bangla series Khela, and became a star actor with his first film, Chirodini Tumi Je Amar (2008).

He won the Anandalok Award for the Best Actor for this commercially successful movie. Throughout his career, he performed in critically acclaimed films like Na Hannyate (2012), Byomkesh Phire Elo (2014), Rajkahini (2015), Zulfiqar (2016), Kolkata Chalantika (2022), and Dilkhush (2023). In addition to being an actor, he was also a talented writer and had authored several books and hosted the popular podcast, Sohoj Kotha.

Moreover, he also established himself as a versatile performer in the OTT world by performing in Lojja (2024), Jaha Bolibo Shotto Bolibo (2024), Dainee (2025), and Jimmi (2025). He was known for his authentic acting skills, intellectual approach, and his love for doing meaningful work throughout his acting career. He was one of the most respected persons of Bengali entertainment until his sudden demise in March 2026 because of drowning in a television shoot in Odisha.
