Biography:

Master Saleem, also known as Saleem Shahzada, is an acclaimed Indian singer renowned for his devotional and playback singing in Bollywood. Born in Shahkot, near Jalandhar, Punjab, he inherited his musical talents from his father, the famous Sufi singer Ustad Puran Shah Koti, who also mentored notable artists like Hans Raj Hans, Jasbir Jassi, Sabar Koti, and Diljaan. Embracing music at a tender age, Saleem began his musical journey under his father’s guidance.

At just seven, Saleem marked his debut with a captivating performance at the opening ceremony of Bathinda Doordarshan, singing “Charkhe Di Ghook,” a performance that earned him the moniker “Master Saleem.” His first album, “Charkhe Di Ghook,” released when he was merely 10 years old, proved to be a significant success, laying the foundation for his illustrious career in Punjabi music and religious albums.

Over the years, Saleem’s musical journey encountered fluctuations, but he made a remarkable comeback in 2000 with the soul-stirring Sufi track “Aj Hona Deedar Mahi da,” reigniting his prominence in the music industry. His collaborations expanded, leading him to work with notable music directors and release successful albums dedicated to Goddess Durga.
