Gene Farber (born November 14, 1978, in Minsk, Belarus) is an American actor of Belarusian-Jewish heritage. After immigrating to the United States, Farber built a diverse acting career across film, television, and voice work, often portraying intense, dramatic, or military-type characters.
Farber’s early screen appearances included roles in the science-fiction projects Virtuality (2010) and Das Boot (2010). He gained wider recognition when he appeared in X-Men: First Class (2011), portraying the Soviet Radioman during the film’s Cold War sequences.
In the years that followed, he continued to take on a variety of roles, such as in Idiot (2012) and the horror-thriller The Body Tree (2015). One of his most notable performances came with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where he played Vasily Karpov in Captain America: Civil War (2016)—a character significant to the Winter Soldier storyline.
Farber went on to appear in the sci-fi drama One Under the Sun (2017) and later in Abigail (2023), further showing his range in genre films.
